     O'Siyo

Hello!

O'siyo, this site is dedicated to all natives.  It is my desire to help educate those that seek more knowledge and for those
who seek more understanding of the Nations'd First People.  Please feel free to send me any links you feel that would do well on
this page.  I began seeking information about my own family after my parens passed on leaving me with only informtion of what
tribe I desended from.  At the time I was young and this meant nothing to me.  Now I have a family of my own but no exended
family members in the southwest part of the U.S.  I began feeling isolated and not really fitting into the norms of my friends or co-workers.  I could not understand this so I began searching on who I really was and where my family came from.  This lead me
on a journey with names from my Mother's bible and many days, hours of researching on the internet as to the orgins of my
family ansesters.  I have come to discover the my mother's family has a long line of Creek and a short line of Cherokee with a
line of Europeans mixed in.  I am no finished with my father's side yet but will continue to research.  Down below I have many
links that I have found interesting or with information on Natives.  I will update this site as I find new information.

Broken Walls

"We all need to keep the line of communication open between us and our Creator.  And since there is only on
Creator of all things living, and He gave the same law to all races of man, I think as long as all races do this and
live by the Creator (God) then they (we) are living right."
~Chief Walking Bear
The Amonsoquath Tribe of Cherokee

Native Americans lived in spiritual worlds different from the Western cultures.  The differences between Christianity, Judaism are minor
compared to the difference between any one of those religions and the religion of any Native American society.  Native American religions
do bear a family resemblance to each other, same as the religions from the far east resemble a world-wide perspective.  But there were and still
are many unique Naive American societies with a distinctive culture.  Within major geographical regions cultures were broadly similar.  Yet
each nation was different (Tooker, 1979).

Native American adolescents have a higher percentage of psychiatric problems than the general population.  Suiceide peaks at
between 15 and 24 years of age.  Cluster suicide has a culturally specific pattern, (Mezzich, Kleinman, Fabrega, Jr., & Parron,
1996).
