The principles and foundations of the AISDA teachings are based on the ancients or "old school" self defense "way". The family art lineage of our system of teachings date back to the Shaolin and Zen priests. The Grandmasters taught and shared their knowledge of the Chinese "internal arts" of Gung Fu, Karate, Tai Chi, Kun Tao, as well as Indonesian Silat, along with the disciplines of yoga breath and meditation. These teachings were designed to treat the body as a whole; for the self defense of the physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual self. The beauty of these art forms is that almost anyone with the will to learn can benefit in the practice, with no exception to age or gender. They are designed to enhance anyones ability from beginner to advanced practicioner.

The American Institute of Self Defense Arts (AISDA) was established to provide a means of further educating the public in the time honored ancient disciplines and principles martial art ways. Our goal is to instill in the student the mental and physical self confidence about themselves to help achieve their aspirations for the future as a well balanced adult. Our national headquarters are located in Phoenix, Arizona where our self defense and self development programs include over three hundred and fifty youth and a handful of carefuly chosen adults.

The founder and chief instructor of (AISDA) is Joe Salomone. He along with his wife Valli, instructors Charlie Rogers and Mark Marrero, spend their days and evenings teaching and instilling in students the time honored disciplines and values of these ancient self defense arts. These disciplines and values have been passed on and upheld for thousands of years. We at AISDA feel it is our duty to continue to teach and preserve the rich and traditional methods of these arts.

Chief instructor Joe Salomone began his studies in these internal self defense arts in 1973 in Las Vegas, Nevada. He feels he is very blessed and most fortunate to have been able to study and learn various reserved high level Chinese and Indonesian internal martial arts. To further enhance his knowledge in the self defense arts Mr. Salomone entered the world of amateur boxing from 1977 thru 1984. He was a five time Nevada State Golden Glove and ABF boxing champion, and in 1981 was selected to represent the United States in International Boxing competition while training at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colorado. He credits his martial art experience for the success he had in the boxing ring; and during his last stay at the olympic camp he was asked by the coaches to give his fellow camp participants a clinic in the tactical manuevers of these art forms. In 1980 he recieved his orange sash (black belt) in the self defense arts and went on to operate five self defense schools in the 1980's before moving to Phoenix, Arizona in 1990. He formed the American Institute of Self Defense Arts in 1993 with the commitment to continue to teach and share his knowledge of these ancient arts and their disciplines.

In 1994, Mr. Salomone recieved his masters degree in these arts and in 1996 he authored a book and produced insructional videos with his knowledge of these arts.
To help in the promotion of these rare art forms he has traveled around the United States giving seminars and workshops in person to give people a more thorough understanding of how these arts can be of a benefit to all practitioners. These seminars have had the audience of alternative health organizations, professional martial artists, children, and adults.

Due to the great interest taken and shown in our AISDA program and its teaching methodology and philosophy, we have created an instructional program for individuals or schools interested in teaching our program throughout the United States and abroad. This program is designed to benefit each student with a unique and exciting martial art experience. The school or individual teaching the curriculum will benefit by learning to teach a proven and successful program; not only through their instruction but financially as well. Most importantly, instructors and students will be rewarded by an "experience of the heart" that can stay with them throughout their lifetime.

" We believe that everyone has something to share and teach with others,
not just in the martial arts but in all walks of life "

                                          Honor & Respect
                                                                     Joe Salomone

                                               ( BUSINESS  OPPORTUNITIES )

This program is offered for individuals or schools looking to build a future in teaching the arts as a "way of life". As an individual or an already established school looking to add to their income potential : this program can generate a substantial amount of income per year.
This is an already proven and succesful youth program, that can be done at various locations. The classes are taught during the day and will not interfere with the evening operations of an existing martial art school. Operational costs are minimal and this program will increase a schools student base as well.
