Reigned over North Wales and Denbarth; and being afterwards converted
to Christianity, reigned over them in peace and wisdom for fifteen years.
Aeddan had at least two sons, Gwaethstello (Lord of Gwent) who had issue
Mervick, Lord of Gwent; who had issue Morvydd, dau. and heir who married
Gronoe ap Ednivet Vaughan, Baron of Brynvengle, Chief counsellor to Llewellyn
ap Iorwerth, the Great, 1194-1240. Gronoe Vaughan was ancestor to Owen
Tudor, who married the widow of Henry V. John of Gaunt was buried in the
chapel of Grosmont Castle; and Aeddan, a powerful Chieftain of Gwent during
the reign of Henry II.
