* * * The simple rules of the Plain 100 * * *
You MUST check in at each CHECK POINT
& tell us if you DNF.
No
pacers allowed on the course.
No flagging.
No dogs allowed on the course (dogs are pacers).
You receive nothing from anyone. Water comes from streams or lakes.
No aid on the course from any source.
No stashing. You have no drop bags or stashes on the loops.
You also have everything with which you started, with you at all times,
this includes going up to Klone Peak.
At the end of loop one and before starting loop two at Deep Creek, you
can have all the aid you want, from any number of people. You can drop
everything you carried for loop one and start fresh with all new stuff
if that is what you want to do. Once you start loop two you must carry
everything through that loop to the end again and not accept anything
from anyone. There is one exception to the above; you can always accept
or give aid to a fellow runner entered in the race.
If
someone figures out what they think is a cool way to use the above
rules to their advantage over their fellow runners, I reserve the right
to disqualify them.

"The Utah contingent at Bighorn
100 danced all night in a
ditch full of rocks at the Bighorn 100. Andrew Barney almost won
(again) the coveted DFL
title, coming in with just over ten minutes to spare. He refused
the ice
cream sandwich I bought for him and drove to him at Mile 98. Oh,
what
courage! Davy Crockett passed me in the last 150 feet and I was
so shocked
I just let him go. Drat! He is now the official Ultraputz,
taking
that title from John Moellmer, who had that title for passing me at
Mile 98 at Wasatch
some years ago." Enjoy more photos at

Excerpt: (To my great surprise, with only about 50 yards
to go, I saw in front of

me!”............)

"About 150 runners participated in
the Wyoming Marathon this year. The race conditions were typical for
the state with cool temperatures at the start (in the 30's) and winds
picking up (to almost 50 mph) throughout the race. The marathon takes
place mostly on trails and started (and finished) by crossing over a
line of flour on a dirt road. The course descends around 1,500 feet,
and ascends around 1,500 feet total. There were only three aid stations
on the course, and runners are required to bring their own water
bottles. Eliminating cups keeps the environmental impact to a minimum
in the Medicine Bow National Forest area. In addition to the marathon,
several runners who turn around at the finish to run it all again for
the Rocky Mountain Double Marathon. In the Rocky Mountain Double
Marathon, Jamie Donaldson of Littleton, CO set a new course record for
the women with a time of 8:17:24. Byran Goding was the first male,
finishing in 7:42:49."
