Port Chester Restoration Project #1

Cassette Master> Soundforge 6.0> cd> EAC> SHN

source: Recorded by Ken & Judy Lee on a Sony 124 cassette deck with Sony dynamic mics on a TDK normal bias tape. Microphones were set up in the balcony witha 10-20 foot spread.

conversion: Original tape was baked in "Susie Q", shell replaced and transferred on a Tascam 122mk3 via a Lucid ADA1000 Analog to Digital Converter directly to disc on a Tascam CDRW700 by John Jay Hance (johnjayhance@optonline.net).

Cleanup performed by Peter G with Soundforge 6.0.

EAC performed with correct offsets. SHN conversion with MKW & extra tracking of soundcheck (track1) & retracking of beginning of "Piece of My Heart" (track 12) CD Wave and EAC by Evan Bellaff (theelevan@yahoo.com).

Several instances of tape speed distortion exist on the master between: track 7 (1:39- 4:58) track 12 (3:22- 4:17)

Enjoy this incredible recording & piece of history which has never been circulated until now. Make sure to thank Ken & Judy Lee for this brilliant recording, John Jay Hance for his restoration efforts & Peter G for his digital conversion & cleanup. Remember, this is "ONLY" the first in a series of Capitol Theatre shows taped by Ken & Judy to be revealed for the first time in over 30 years.

One final person who needs to be mentioned here is the late Marc Cohen, who's desire to get these shows out over the years has culminated in this project. Marc was also responsible for the Grateful Dead Capitol 6/24/70 late show (also taped by Ken Lee) being circulated.

If anyone knows the name of the 10th track, or if the 9th song which is an instrumental has a name, please email me.

Thanks, Evan Bellaff (ebellaff@aol.com)
