BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION:
I'm a native of Troy, Ohio, born
to James and Reeda Everhart. My siblings are David and Lora. I grew up in West Milton, OH. I lived there until 1972.
I graduated from Milton Union H.S. in 1970. I moved to
Troy in 1973, and lived there 16 years.
In 1989, there was a monumental
change in my life: I accepted a transfer with Hobart Corporation (PMI Food Equipment Group) to South
Carolina.
While living in Florence, I met Carla, whom I married in November of 1993.
In 1994, we (Carla, Doug, and I)
moved to Kansas City where we lived for about four years. In
April of 1998, Carla and I moved into our new home in a suburb of Boise, Idaho.
(We can't get over what a wonderful city Boise is!)
I am now the Information
Technology Planning and Budget Manager for Idaho Power Company, where I've
been employed since 1999.
Carla now has her own business, Advantage Idaho, Inc.
Her company manages homeowners' associations and professional and trade
groups, primarily in the Boise Metro area.
Carla's daughter, Marilee, has a Ph.D. from the University of North
Carolina, Chapel Hill. Marilee is now working for the National
Academies of Science in Washington, DC.
She and her husband, Matt (also
a PhD), live in the DC area, and have two children, a boy and a girl.
Son Steve is a 1997 graduate of
the University of South Carolina, and is employed as a Certified Public
Accountant in North Carolina.
Steve and his wife Becky have two sons, plus Becky's son and daughter by a previous marriage.
Doug, Carla's youngest, is a
Graduate of Washburn University, and has travelled extensively in
Asia.
From 2000 to 2003, he was an English teacher in a middle
school in Tosu, Japan.
While living in in Japan, he acquired his Master's Degree in International Studies. After that he spent about a year in China.
He now lives in San Francisco and is employed by a Japanese prefecture.
My own education consists of a
Bachelor of Science in Computer Information Systems from Friends
University, Wichita, Kansas,
and an Associate of Science Degree from
Edison State College, Piqua, Ohio.
My interests include Celtic
and Classical music, making old-fashioned crystal radios, collecting old
roadmaps, theater, reading, computers, canoeing, kayaking, camping,
fishing, bicycling and walking. I've also done stints as a radio disk
jockey (WMVR, Sidney, OH), commercial announcer, and film narrator.
