Washington
as Seen in the X-Files
.
A humorous look at the episodes based in Wahsington State
Episode: 1.16
Location: Matawa, Washington
How they made it look: A tree lined highway.
How it really is: Well judging by the location from the map, which I borrowed from the locations of someone else's map, then terrain should be a little more mountainous. But damn, there sure are a lot of highways out there.
.
Episode: 1.19 - Darkness Falls
Location: Olympic National Forest
How they made it look: Rainy with big trees, and infested with killer bugs.
How it really is: That just about sums it up, the vancouver forests make an almost exact double for the rain forests of the Olympic Peninsula. While there are no killer bugs, the mosquitos can get quite active during the summer.
.
Episode: 1.22 - Roland
Location: Colson, Washington
How they made it look: Couldn't really tell, almost the entire episode was spent inside that stupid laboratory.
How it really is: Well besides the fact that Colson doesn't exist, I don't think there are any laboratories in Eastern Washington. Except for that little Hanford Nuclear Reactor thingy.
.
Episode: 2.09 - Firewalker
Location: Mt. Avalon
How they made it look: Let's see... a rural volcanic mountain filled with new life forms and a robot.
How it really is: While there is no actual Mt. Avalon, there are numerous mountains like that in the Cascade range. Mount St. Helens comes to find. Oh yeah, there no robots in the Cacades. Trust me.
.
Episode: 3.08 - Oubliette
Location: Seattle, Washington
How they made it look: Just like any rural town.
How it really is:  Well, there aren't too many places that are that rural in Seattle. If if occurred in the area, then it would probably occur in some suburban town like Mount Vernon or Kent, which are by no means in Seattle.
.
Episode: 3.20 - Jose Chung's From Outer Space
Location: Klass County, Washington
How they made it look: A small town in a forested area next to a military base, and filled with whacked out people and MIBs.
How it really is: From the given location, (which does not exist) it looks like the county would be somewhere near Lake Chelan, which is high desert country. I could be wrong, but that is what it looks like. Also, there is a military testing ground south of Lake Chelan, but that does not exactly constitute a military base.
