Season 1
.
1.01  The X-Files: Pilot
Agent Scully is introduced to Mulder, and they go on their first case together, investigating the paranormal disappearances of high school classmates. The setting that the episode is filmed in is really the type of setting Chris Carter invisioned for the show, and it works really well. This rugged, rural landscape complete with trees and small houses has been used many times to great effect, but never more than here. All the aspects of the show are here, but it still seems a little raw. Nevertheless, this episode is tense, funny, and really interesting. A great start to everyone's favorite show!
My rating: 8 out of 10
.
1.02  Deep Throat
The agents travel to Idaho to investigate the disappearance of an Air Force test pilot, and see some sites while they are there. The pilot gets returned, but he acts like he has been lobotomized. The episode is fun and paranoid, and its really refreshing to see the agents acting like normal people and not the hype driven stars that they are now. No offense anyone! This ep has many really cool scenes including the observation of the UFO by Mulder and Scully on top of a hill, yellowbase, and the scene where the agent's car is surrounded by government agents in suits and sunglasses that is pure X-Files. Good episode, but undeveloped and not quite in the rythym of events that we are all used to when watching newer episodes.
My rating: 8 out of 10
.
1.03  Squeeze
A mutant killer who eats livers is on the loose in the Maryland area and its Mulder and Scully's job to catch him. This killer has the ability to squeeze into things things only inches across! This episode was scary the first time I saw it, after watching it a few times it kind of loses its bite. As with most of the first season episodes this ep is honest buit unfocused. There are a few exceptions to this rule including the great episodes Ice, Beyond the Sea, EBE, Eve, and the Erlenmeyer Flask
My rating: 8 out of 10
.
1.04  Conduit.
A boy is the connection to a girl who was supposedly abducted by aliens. The agents come in a try to sort things out. I still like this episode a lot. It benefits greatly on many memorable scenes, such as the opening sequence, the "aliens" sequence in the field, and the great ending in the church. However, if you are looking at it from a critical stand point, then this episode is just average.
My rating: 6 out of 10
.
1.05  The Jersey Devil
Several sightings of a beast man animal attract the attention of the intrepid agent Mulder to the New Jersey area. As for Scully, she ends up bailing Mulder out of the drunk tank. A so/so episode that just kinds of goes by without anything interesting happen.
My rating: 4 out of 10
.
1.06  Shadows
A strange poltergeist seems to be protecting a young woman, and causing many deaths. More akin to a low budget daytime cable drama than an X-Files episode, mostly because of its unknown director. What a pooper of an episode.
My rating: 2 out of 10
.
1.07  Ghost in the Machine
An artificial intelligence computer becomes self aware and starts killing people that threaten to destroy it. Not really as bad as some people say, but the depiction of technology in this episode is a little off. The sequence with Scully in the heating ducts is pretty neat, but the Brad Wilczek character is a little corny. Watchable.
My rating: 6 out of 10
.
1.08  Ice
The two agents go to a research station above the arctic circle to investigate unexplained deaths, and eventually encounter an organism that makes people want to kill other people. The agents cannot be requed because of a storm, and there is a tense standoff to see who will make it through the night. An absolute awesome episode that is as scary as it is fun. If you have never seen this episode, watch alone with the lights off! The little worms are really neat too.
My rating: 10 out of 10
.
1.09  Space
A phantom alien spirit or something is sabotaging NASA and its space launches. Michelle Generoo, a woman as NASA calls the agents in to investigate. Relying on stock NASA footage, this is just another so/so episode that is ultimately lame.
My rating: 4 out of 10
.
1.10  Fallen Angel
Mulder, acting on a tip from Deep Throat, investigates a covered up alien ship crash, and meets the UFO nut Max Fenig along the way. A really neat episode benefits greatly from the guest actor, the sense or paranoia, and the nifty alien special effects. An essential episode in the series!
My rating: 8 out of 10
 ...
1.11 Eve
Two people are killed in exactly the same manner on opposite sides of the countries and the only witnesses are their daughters who are identical. Sound strange? It is but that does not detract from this great episode. With scary moments, a neat ending and an appearance from Deep Throat, this is one fine episode.
My Rating: 8 out of 10
.
1.12 Fire
A man with the ability to control fire starts killing people, and Mulder and Scully are called in to investigate with Mulder's former girlfriend inspector Phoebe Green. It should be a good episode but somehow it seems uneven. The fire special effects are neat though.
My rating: 5 out of 10
.
1.13  Beyond the Sea
A prisoner on death row claims he has the ability to see into a murderer's mind, and Mulder and Scully come in to try to find out the murderer's identity before he can kill again. This episode is one of the most intense and scary episodes of television ever and is rivaled only be the other season one episode Ice. The guest star Brad Douriff is terrific as the inmate Luther Lee Boggs. Watch out for the execution sequence, it is quite horrifying.
My rating: 10 out of 10
.
1.14  Genderbender
A few deaths in the throws of passion occur by a killer that can seemingly switch genders. The agents are led to a group of Amish like people called the Kindred. A deft episode that is entertaining but uneven. The ending is abrupt an underdeveloped, but still kind of neat.
My rating: 7 out of 10
.
1.15  Lazarus
An ex-boyfreind of agent Scully, Jack Willis, is shot in a bank robbery and his soul seems to be switched with the bank robber who was shot dead. Scully is kidnapped by Jack Willis acting as the bank robber, and held captive. This episode seems more like an episode of NYPD Blue instead of the X-Files, and ultimately is uninteresting.
My rating: 5 out of 10
.
1.16  Young at Heart
A murderer seems to have come from beyond the grave and is back and committing murders with hs salamander hand! Mulder who was assigned this case many years ago is back on the bandwagon trying to catch him. Like the previous episode, this one is uninteresting, but still a little bit better.
My rating: 6 out of 10
.
1.17  E.B.E
The agents are alerted by Deep Throat of a sighting of a UFO by a truck driver, and they must go though a web of surveillance and lies in this paranoid episode to discover the truth. The Lone Gunmen make their first appearance. This episode is so slick, fast moving and well directed, it seems more like an episode of the fifth season than the first one. This is one of my favorite episodes and it is still fun to watch after having already seeing so many times.
My rating: 9 out of 10
.
1.18  Miracle Man
The powers of a boy who used to be able to heal people, now has his gift corrupted and he seems to be killing people with his touch. The agents are called in to investigate the unexplained deaths, and the only clues lead to a man that the boy healed when he was young.
Better than some in the first season but still not that good.
My rating: 6 out of 10
.
1.19  Shapes
A man living on the edge of an Native American reservation is attacked by a creature, and an investigation reveal that the creature was part man part animal. Lame-o episode is underdeveloped and boring.
My rating: 5 out of 10
.
1.20  Darkness Falls
Loggers mysteriously disappear in the forests of the Olympic Peninsula, and the agents are called up o find out what happened. They get stranded and are kept company only by the forest ranger who came with them,  and a radical environmentalist, as well as thousands of tiny green bugs who only attack at night. Good episode that relies on the "bottle" theme to gain suspense. An essential episode.
My rating: 8 out of 10
.
1.21  Tooms
The mutant liver eating killer from the episode "Squeeze" is back out of jail and on the hunt for more victims. Mulder goes on a stakeout to try and catch him when he kills again. In my opinion slightly better than its predecessor "Squeeze, but still not top notch.
My rating: 7 out of 10
.
1.22  Born Again
The spirit of a man who was murdered seems to have come back in a little girl, and it is out for revenge. Another first season so/so episode is not boring, but it also not that interesting. In the end this episode will be remembered for being unremarkable.
My rating: 5 out of 10
.
1.23  Roland
A man working on a top secret experiment is killed in a car crash. Six months later his work is continued, and the only person who could be doing it is a mentally retarded janitor. This installment in the series has some nifty effects, but not much substance
My rating: 6 out of 10
.
1.24  The Erlenmeyer Flask
Deep Throat gives Mulder a tip on a case involving a Man who mysteriously disappears after diving into into a bay. A few days later the agents are alerted to a flask that may contain DNA of an extraterrestrial. The man reappears and Mulder and Scully hop on the chase. This episode, while not perfect, is quite sophisticated for the first season. More stuff and more locations are involved than in  any other episode from the first season.
My rating: 9 out of 10

Season 2
.
2.01  Little Green Men
Mulder and Scully have been working in other sections now for some time, and Mulder receives a tip from one of his contacts about finding Aliens at a SETI station in Puerto Rico. He leaves instantly, and Scully must evade people trying to follow her so she can find Mulder. This episode is kind of reintroductory one to the series, with the extra few words added to every sentence to explains a bit. Not bad, but not as good as some of the terrific episodes later in this season. The trip to Puerto Rico is a neat variation from the normal X-Files setting.
My rating: 7 out of 10
.
2.02  The Host
Mulder is assigned to a case involving attacks in the sewers of New Jersey, and the only suspect seems to be a huge half man / half fluke worm! A fairly good episode from the second season, is fun to watch but seems to lead to a boring conclusion.
My rating: 6 out of 10
.
2.03  Blood.
Several murders are happen, and the only link is that each of them happened near a digital readout. As the story unfolds, it focuses on a man who has a fear of blood, and ends up in a clock tower killing spree scene.. The agents don't take up as much screen time as they usually do in each episode, but their time is enhanced by the presence of the Lone Guman in one particular scene.
My rating: 5 out of 10
.
2.04 Sleepless
Mulder is assigned a new partner named Alex Krycek, and they investigate the mysterious deaths that cannot be explained. After a little investigation, they are led to an elite marine corps whose soldiers cannot go to sleep. A pretty good episode, has a neat opener and some nifty dialogue between Mulder and his New Partner.
My rating: 7 out of 10
.
2.05 Duane Barry (part 1 of 2)
A mental patient Duane Barry, claims to have contact with aliens takes a few people hostage, and Mulder is called in to try to talk Duane Barry out of the situation. Eventually Mulder trades himself with one of the hostages, and then he is traded for Scully. This episode is so well done, that it is just a fluid motion from start to finish. Along with the sequel (Ascension) this is one nice episode.
My rating: 9 out of 10
.
2.06 Acsension (part 2 of 2)
After Scully is abducted by Duane Barry, Mulder sets out on a chase with his partner Krycek to find her. This episode, while good, is unbalanced. It seemed that the all of the action happened in the first half and we are just left to twiddle our thumbs for the rest of it.
My rating 7 out of 10
.
2.07 3
A trio of people are committing a series of vampire like murders, and Mulder investigates them a little too closely and gets involved romantically with one of them named Kristen Kilar. This episode is the only one so far hat does not have an appearance by Scully, as she was off having her baby at this time. Interesting, but it would be more interesting if Scully was there as well.
My rating: 6 out of 10
.
2.08 One Breath
Scully mysteriously appears in a hospital in a coma and relying on life support, and no one can tell Mulder how she got there. Scully's will dictates that she does not want to live on life support, so Mulder must find a cure before she runs out of time. This episode is still probably the best dramatic installment in the series, and flows seamlessly though great acting, direction, action, and transitions. An absolute must see!
My rating: 10 out of 10
.
2.09 Firewalker
The last pictures that arrieved of a research team in a volcano, are from the robot probe that they took along, and the pictures show that something is wrong. The agents come up to the volcano to try to find out what is wrong, and they stumble on to what Mulder thinks is a new life form. This is actually the first X-Files episode that I had seen, and is still pretty watchable. A little too much like the episode "Ice."
My rating: 7 out of 10
.
2.10 Red Museum
High school students going missing and turing up with words written on their backs. The suspects are either a local cult or a mysterious government agency. A stupid and corny episode that focuses on all the wrong things.
My rating: 5 out 10
.
2.11 Excelsius Dei
Mysterious forces seem to be occupying a convalescent home and they are murdering the people who work there. Still a pretty neat episode with its slight humor and the well done ending sequence with the water. Only fault is lack of scope and grandeur.
My rating: 7 out of 10
.
2.12  Aubrey
A female cop suddenly solves a decade old case, and there is no way she could have known it by any normal means. Probably the most boring episode of the second season, this one episode that should be shelved and left there!
My rating: 3 out of 10
.
2.13  Irresistible
Donnie Phaster, a sicko, is going around a small town and committing grave and body desecration, Mulder and Scully get interested when he switches over to live victims. I don't think that this episode is as good as some people say, but probably because of the grave desecration thing this one scares the heck out of some people.
My rating: 6 out of 10
.
2.14  Die Hand Die Verletzt
A group of teenagers try to summon a spirit, and they succeed! The agents go to a small town and find many interesting things including the PTA that worships the devil. Slick episode that is part horror, part quirky moments. Very stylish and a great watch.
My rating: 8 out of 10
.
2.15  Fresh Bones
After two apparent suicides of marines at an immigration center, Mulder and Scully come in to investigate, and find that all the suicide sites have voodoo symbols near them. Fairly good for a filler episode, ending is unusual, but neat!
My rating: 7 out of 10
.
2.16  Colony (part 1 of 2)
An anonymous E-Mail is sent to Mulder telling him about three deaths of absolutely identical people, and the agents eventually find even more of the "clones." At the same time Mulder's father calls and informs Mulder that his sister has been returned. A great fast paced episode, has all the right kicks at the right times, and ends with one fantastic cliffhanger.
My rating: 10 out of 10
.
2.17  End Game (part 2 of 2)
The alien bounty hunter has kidnapped Scully, and the only trade he will do is for Mulder's recently returned sister Samantha. The action goes from a bridge to a abortion clinic and eventual the arctic. This episode represents some spectacular spending by the art department, and it shows. While still a top notch episode it is not as good as the previous episode.
My rating: 9 out of 10
.
2.18  Fearful Symmetry
An incident involving an apparently invisible elephant and a city street, alerts the agents to the Fairfield zoo, which has never had a sucessful animal birth. From the summary this episode sounds interesting, but is actually executed poorly, resulting in a very average episode. The sequence with the the lone gunmen, and the opening sequence are the episodes only strong points.
My rating: 5 out of 10
.
2.19  Dod Kalm
Only one soldier out of many, who fled the USS Arden, makes it to Naval Hospital alive, and he is suffering from a rapid onslaught of old age! The agents go to the ship and get taken with the same rapid aging illness. An okay episode that suffers from the drawn out parts of the we are dying sequence. If you've seen it, you will know what I am talking about.
My rating: 6 out of 10
.
2.10  Humbug
Deaths related to circus performers are investigated by Mulder and Scully who go to a weird town run by and occupied by circus freaks. Offbeat, and unusual, this funny episode has all to the elements to make it a great episode. The sequences with Jim Rose and that puzzle piece tattooed naked guy are hilarious. After 3 more seasons it is still as fresh as when it first aired.
My rating: 9 out of 10
.
2.21  The Calusari
A child is killed by a mysterious force, and the agents visit their home to try and find what has caused the death. The Calusari are called in to perform an exorcism on a boy who seems to be a key to the murder. This really caught me off guard, this is a pretty decent episode with a terrifying teaser, and many other frightening parts. The episodes usually follow a set pattern of no two good episodes after another, but this one was the exception.
My rating: 7 out of 10
.
2.22  F. Emasculata
A virus that came from the rain forests, has infecting a prison, and 2 inmates that may be infected have escaped. Mulder tries to hunt hem down, while Scully works in the prison to try and find a cure. This episode, for the second season, is pretty good. Not top notch, but better than most. The scene in the bus is edge of your seat, and same with the scene in the prison with Scully and that other doctor.
My rating: 7 out of 10
.
2.23  Soft Light
After a bizarre accident, a man's shadow is capable of killing people. The agents must find this man before he can kill again whether he knows what he is doing or not. This episode is based on a fairly interesting idea, but it comes off as uninteresting and pointless.
My rating: 5 out of 10
.
2.24  Our Town
A disappearance of a federal poultry inspector, leads the agents to a small town that is based around a chicken company. After a little investigating, Mulder thinks that the people of Dudley may have been eating more than just chicken. A very suspenseful episode benefits from a weird ambiance that seems to hand around nighttime and cannibalism.
My rating: 8 out of 10
.
2.25  Anasazi (part 1 of 3)
An earthquake in mexico unearths an alien body and a boxcar, and at the same time a friend of the Lone Gunmen hacks into the pentagon files and gets the infamous MJ-12 documents. The then hacker gives the documents to Mulder for safekeeping. Mulder's father realizes that the documents may ruin him, so he prepares to tell Mulder, but is murdered before he can get the chance. This is one sweet episode, I did not appreciate it as much as I do now when I first saw it because I saw it months after it had aired and the suspense was ruined. Nevertheless, this episode is slick, fast paced, and quite a cliffhanger.

Season 3
.
3.01  The Blessing Way (part 2 of 3)
Mulder is found in the dessert clinging to life by a Native American healer, while Scully and Skinner search for him. Scully is also warned by a mysterious man that a person she trusts will try to kill her. This episode is not the best season opener, and it suffers from drawn out boring stretches. Although the scene at the end is one nice cliffhanger
My rating 7 out of 10
.
3.02  Paper Clip (part 3 of 3)
Mulder and Scully find an ex-Naxi who used to work with Mulder's Father, who points them toward an abandoned mine that is filled with some thing unusual. This episode is quite a ride and its best point is the scene in the mine with the ______ and the ______ (not to spoil it for those few of you who have not seen it). While not as good as some of the episodes later in the season, this one still fits in the top episodes category.
My rating: 9 out of 10
.
3.03  D.P.O
Several deaths in a small town by lightning point the agents to the only person in town who was hit by lightning but not killed. This is not as bad of an episode as some people say. The story focuses on the two high school kids, has great special effects, creepy music, an awesome teaser, and a good ending. I really liked this one, and the musical interludes of music by Filter really add to the story. The teaser in this episode is the best of the third season.
My rating: 8 out of 10
.
3.04  Clyde Bruckman's Final Repose
A man who can see how people die is helping Mulder and Scully with the murders of fortune tellers committed by a man who may be able to see the future. Another great episode written by the comic genius Darin Morgan (he also did Humbug as well as some other episodes later in this season) is a little darker than his last effort, but is still fun. The direction is fluid by blending great acting by Peter Boyle, funny situations, and dramatic moments. One of the best episodes on the season.
My rating: 10 out of 10
.
3.05  The List
Right before his execution, a prisoner says that he will come back and kill all the people that have wronged him. When people related to the prison start dying, the agents are there to uncover the truth. This episode is really kind of a letdown from the first four episodes of this season, and goes nowhere fast.
My rating: 5 out of 10
.
3.06  2SHY
A killer is killing overweight women by digesting their body fat. Gross! The agents get on the case and the killer may decide to put Scully next on his list (even though she is not overweight).
This is quite a scary episode, but not that great on every other thing that matters. They really found a creepy guy to play the killer!
My rating: 6 out of 10
.
3.07  The Walk
A man tries to commit suicide, but a mysterious phantom seems to be preventing him from doing it. After several mysterious accidents the agents are alerted to a man in a military hospital who has no arms or legs. This episode has some of the best special effects of the season, especially the part where the phantom jumps out of the pool. The episode as a whole is not spectacular, but still very watchable
My rating: 7 out of 10
.
3.08  Oubliette
A woman who was kidnapped years ago seems to be experiencing the same things as a girl who was recently kidnapped. Mulder and Scully desperately try to get her to help them find the missing girl. This episode really made me want to change the channel. Long and boring with no action.
My rating: 3 out of 10
.
3.09  Nisei (part 1 of 2)
Mulder orders an alien autopsy video and sees something that could be real. After tracking down the maker he is led into an international ring of silence, and eventually ends up in a train.
This episode is pretty good, and really starts to dig into the mythology of the show. Not quite as good as the sequel, and the cliffhanger is not that great either.
My rating: 8 out of 10
.
3.10  731 (part 2 of 2)
Mulder is on the train, trapped with a assassin and a bomb, and no one is going to rescue him. Only one person can help now, but will they? This episode is a lot more suspenseful than the previous one, and benefits from the bottle like atmosphere of the train. The ________ at the end is really something.
My rating: 8 out of 10
.
3.11  Revelations
A boy starts bleeding from his hands just like Christ did in the crusifixtion, and the agents and a strange man are called in to protect the boy from a man who is murdering people like him.
I like this episode, and it the first one to really explore Scully's religious devotion. The ending is not the greatest though.
My rating 8 out of 10
.
3.12  War of the Coprophages
While on vacation in a small town, Mulder is alerted to several deaths related to cockroaches. He must uncover what is true and what is rumor with the help of his new friend Bambi in this panic stricken town. Another Darin Morgan episode is much better than most episodes but not as good as Morgan's best. This episode is more straight out humor than his last which was more like dark humor.
My rating: 9 out of 10
.
3.13  Syzygy
Deaths seem to be occurring in a small town thanks to the devil, or at least that is what it seems to be. Mulder and Scully realize that the only people who were present at all the deaths were two high school girls who were born on the same day. Mulder suspects the deaths might also have to do with a strange astronomical alignment his is affecting this small town. This episode tries to be a laugher like the Darin Morgan written ones, and is successful on some levels, but is definitely not as good as it could have been.
My rating: 7 out of 10
.
3.14  Grotesque
A killer insists that a demon is responsible for his actions and not him, so Mulder figures that he has to get inside the killer's head to catch the killer. This is one dark episode, with no break from the darkness, and succeeds with its good direction and good acting. Agent Scully is pushed aside from the story, and this is the episode's only really big detractor.
My rating: 8 out of 10
.
3.15  Piper Maru (part 1 of 2)
A team of French divers tries to salvage a World War II bomber at the bottom of the ocean, but the crew suffers extreme radiation burns just by trying. The lone survivor of this fiasco, a man who is completely untouched by the radiation is on the loose, and Mulder must untangle the web of secrecy surrounding this man and the WW2 bomber. The digital tape from the season opener also makes an appearance. Like most two part episodes, this episode goes nowhere, but is slickly done and interesting.
My rating: 7-1/2 out of 10
.
3.16  Apocrypha (part 2 of 2)
Mulder is off in Hong Kong with Krycek (don't ask), Scully is back in the states trying to figure more out about the disappearance of her sister with Skinner (who was shot). Eventually, the agents and Krycek end up in an underground missile silo (again, don't ask). This episode has so much plot crammed into it that it barely has room to breath, but it pulls it off in the end by use of great action and a fast moving story. Much better, in my opinion, than the previous episode.
My rating: 9 out of 10
.
3.17  Pusher
A man, who make people do his will is loose, and the agents must find him and wade through his cryptic clues before he kills again. This is fine example of a good episode, and it succeeds through its guest star, and great suspense all the way through. One of the best of season 3 and it just missed being on my top ten list.
My rating: 9 out of 10
.
3.18  Teso Dos Bichos
After an ancient artifact is dug up, people related with the dig start dying. Here were are with an example of an episode that goes nowhere and is cheesy. The kitties at the end? This episode was a total failure. The only good part was teaser, which was not even that good.
My rating: 4 out of 10
.
3.19  Hell Money
Deaths of several Chinese American, has led the agents to  think that they might have been involved in a type of lottery related to a body part smuggling ring. This episode is not that bad, but again it is an episode with no real kicks.  Those masked guys were pretty creepy!
My rating; 6 out of 10
.
3.20  Jose Chung's From Outer Space
A young woman claims that she was raped, while the guy she said had raped her claims that they were abducted by aliens. The agents along with an author try to weed through all the conflicting stories and find out what really happened in Klass county. This episode with its extremely complicated plot, astounding visuals and quirkey humor, all told in a series of flashbacks, makes this the best episode of the X-Files and one of the best episodes of television ever!. The story weaves in and out though the use of flashback of flashbacks and outstanding transitions and visual trickery. Also, don't forget about the Men in Black who make a few appearances in this show. All this and guess who it was written by; Darin Morgan. He has also filled the script with hundreds of in-jokes that are fun to watch for on multiple viewings. My favorite episode!
My rating: 10 out of 10
.
3.21  Avatar
A prostitute is murdered in her sleep by Assistant Director Skinner, and the agents must prove him innocent before he loses everything. The idea was good, but it is just too boring! By the way, that old lady really creeps me out.
My rating: 6 out of 10
.
3.22  Quagmire
Deaths start happening around a lake that is supposedly home to a lake monster. The agents must find it before it can kill anymore people. This is a fine episode, packed with little one-liners and great suspense all the way through. The conversation scene near the end is a first for the two agents since theirs in the pilot. A very watchable episode!
My rating: 8 out of 10
.
3.23  Wetwired
A mysterious signal is being emitted form television sets causing people to kill other people. Agent Scully may be affected, and Mulder must track down the person who is orchestrating this conspiracy. A nice episode that sports a good performance by Anderson, and an interesting story line.
My rating: 8 out of 10
.
3.24  Talithi Cumi (part 1 of 2)
A hostage situation happens in which three people are shot, but when the paramedic arrive everyone is okay. Their stories point to a man who supposedly has healing powers, while Mulder learn new things about his family, and come under the possession of a special tool. Im my opinion a very good season finale, that is glossily directed, and acted. Very somber as most finales are.

4.01  Herrenvolk
Mulder along with Jeremiah Smith got to Canada to find out the truth about his sister while being chased by the alien bounty hunter. What a disappointment! Talithi Cumi held such grasp on me, and this episode just threw all that away. Not that bad, but like every other two-parter in that it lets the viewer's expectations down. The teaser is something else, and the episode is worth watching just to see it.

4.02  Home
Called out to a small rural town to investigate the death and abandonment of a small baby, the agents primary suspect are a group of deformed brothers who live by themselves. The first time I saw this episode I thought it was just a very gross horror type episode. On closer inspection this episode is very well done with its creepy music and parallels to old b-movies. Can you believe that this episode was censored?

4.03  Teliko
Unusual deaths of young black men, lead the agents to an old story and a man named Samuel Aboah who has the ability to squeeze himself into the size of a coffee cup. In my opinion a nice episode, with its share of good scares. Not the fastest moving episode, but it still moves at a good pace.
My rating: 7 out of 10
.
4.04  Unruhe
Young women start turning up with crude lobotomies performed on them. The killer now sets his sights on Agent Scully for his next target. Another one of the better than average fourth season episodes. The whole picture unscrambling thing is fun but unbelievable.
My rating: 8 out of 10
.
4.05  The Field Where I Died
The agents are assigned to a religious leader who may be stocking up on guns and/or preparing for a mass suicide. Mulder and Scully meet a woman associated with him with multiple personalities who may be able to help them find out what they need to know. The only problem is Mulder thinks that he recognizes that woman from his past life. A good episode with a lot of covered emotion. The end scene is "too real."
My rating: 8 out of 10
.
4.06  Sanguinarium
Deaths start racking up at a plastic surgery ward that may be cursed! sounds more exciting than it really is. Mediocre and the worst of the season except for El Mundo Gira.
My rating: 4 out of 10
.
4.07  Musings of a Cigarette Smoking Man
The story of the man in questioned is explained in parts about the JFK assassination, M. Luther King, Deep Throat and others. The first half of this episode is in black and white. The first time I saw this episode I was extremely disappointed because of its one and only appearance of Scull in stock footage at the end. Mulder is only heard in this episode, by the way. However, after a second viewing I began to appreciate how good of an episode this really is. It has a complex plot explained by use of excellent story telling, and is filled with an air of no-nonsense dramaticism. What's scary is that you begin to care for CSM by the end of this episode.
My rating: 9 out of 10
.
4.08  Tunguska (part 1 of 2)
A tip about a bomb, leads the agents to Krycek, and to a weird rock. Inside of that rock appears to be a mutation or relative of the black oil, that this time takes the form of worms. Eventually Mulder and Krycek end up in Russia. Fairly good, but not as good as some two parter beginner episodes.

.
4.09  Terma
Escaping form the gulag, Mulder tries to track down the instigator of the virus in the US, and gets tangled in with the Well Manicured Man and a man named Vassily Peskov.  When viewed back to back with the previous one, it is learned that this episode really does not make any sense. Oh Well, at least that explosion was neat!
My rating: 7 out of 10
.
4.10  Paper Hearts
A mysterious dream leads Mulder to the discovery of the skeleton of a little girl. This skeleton leads the agents to a murderer who is already serving his time in jail, and may know something about Mulder's long lost sister. What a fantastic episode! One of the most dramatic episodes ever that plays out like clockwork. Benefits greatly from the moody music played throughout. An absolute must see!
My rating: 10 out of 10
.
4.11  El Mundo Gira
The outbreak of a fungus like thing seems to follow an illegal immigrant around, and infects anything that he touches. Boring! After the last episode I was actually expecting another good episode. I watched this episode after drinking a can of coke and it still almost fell asleep.
My rating: 2 out of 10

4.12  Leonard Betts
After the decapitation of an ambulance worker, his body is seemingly stolen from the morgue. Days later another person show up in his place who looks exactly like him. This person also seems to have an odd taste for... I'll let you find out! This episode aired after the super bowl, so the Fox network decided to cram it full of as much violence and guts as possible. It worked!

4.13 Never Again
After the FBI forces Mulder to take a vacation, he gives Scully all the work he has been working on. While investigating one of Mulder's leads Scully meets a man at a tattoo parlor and goes on a date with him. What she does not know is that he has a tattoo that talks to him and tells him what to do, even kill people. A humorous episode that focuses mostly with Scully. Not bad, but kind of dull.
My rating: 7 out of 10
.
4.14 Momento Mori
Scully is diagnosed with terminal cancer that probably came form her abduction experience. While trying to find information on a fellow abductee Mulder enters a clinic filled with many clones. Very good mythology episode works with the help of the lone gunmen and the dramatic scenes with Scully in the hospital.
My rating: 9 out of 10
.
4.15 Kaddish
A man after being murdered by racist teenagers, seems to have come back from the grave alive. Uninspired entry seems to move along at a very relaxed pace. No interesting dialogue between the agents either.
My rating: 4 out of 10
.
4.16 Unrequited
After several assassinations, evidence is unearthed that the assassinations may have been comitted by an invisible assassin. A very good idea and execution, but it seems to have no kick. Still very watchable and in the better half of the fourth season episodes. The tracking of the assassin is the best part of the episode, and the creators use it to the fullest extent by showing it in the teaser and the finale.
My rating: 8 out of 10
.
4.17 Tempus Fugit (part 1 of 2)
Max Fenig, the alien abductee from the episode Fallen Angel, is shown visibly nervous sitting on a passenger airplane. After the plane's crash, the agents must find out what really happened to Max and flight he was on. Amazing! My thoughts after having seen this episode for the first time. This episode moves at such a fast pace that it is hard to comprehend the entire episode. (That's not a bad thing, but a good thing.) Cinematic elements for this episode are also particularly strong, and the episode's budget must have been huge. One must see the plane wreck scene to see what I am talking about. A movable gimble attached to hydraulics was also used to simulate the "turbulence" in the plane cabin.
My rating: 10 out of 10
.
4.18  Max (part 2 of 2)
After investigating the plane crash, the agents find the wreckage of a UFO near the plane, raising even more questions about its downing. The agents learn that Max was transporting one piece of a three part object that was supposedly alien technology. After locating the third piece and trying to fly back to washington, things start to happen in Mulder's flight just like they did in Max's flight. So many questions are left unanswered and so many things don't make sense in this episode, that it doesn't have quite the impact that the previous episode had.
My rating: 8 out of 10
.
4.19 Synchrony
An old man rushes to warn a scientist that his life is in danger. After the scientist dies just like the old man says, they find a person who was near the old man frozen solid, and that the old man has disappeared. The story for this episode is far too complex for it to make any sense, and the pacing of this episode is just too slow.
My rating: 6 out of 10
.
4.20 Small Potatoes
Five babies are born with tails in a small town, and the agents come to investigate what is happening. They are led to a man who used to have a tail and can change his appearance. Very funny and clever and in the style of a Darin Morgan episode. In fact, Darin Morgan plays the man in question. The most brilliant part of the episode is the whole sequence where the man takes on the appearance of Mulder.
My rating: 10 out of 10
.
4.21 Zero Sum
A postal employee dies mysteriously and it all leads back to a mysterious package that contained plague carrying bees. Great stand alone mythology episode delivers all the goods. The bee special effects are stunning and the confrontation between Cancerman and Skinner is a must see.
My rating: 9 out of 10
.
4.22 Elegy
A series of murders occurs and it leads back to a mentally retarded man at a bowling alley. The agents don't believe that he did it so they must find the real killer if they can. Fairly good, but not as good as the last two episodes. The episode has some scary moments, but is not that interesting
My rating: 7 out of 10
.
4.23 Demons
Mulder is found disoriented in a bathtub by Agent Scully with blood on his hand and the keys to someone else's house. Scully must find out what was done to him and prove him innocent  in time. Yet another good fourth season episode, finds its strengths in dialogue between the agents and suspenseful moments. Great direction.
My rating: 8 out of 10
.
4.24 Gethsemane
A ancient frozen body of what appears to be an alien is unearthed high atop a mountain. Mulder must try to get proof of this alien before forces in the government can interfere. What a season ender! The last 5 minutes leaves the viewer with one of the best cliffhangers in the history of the show.( I'll assume that everyone has seen this episode.) Mulder committing suicide is addressed in such a way and tone that it left countless viewers wondering what really happened. The only downside is that this episode takes its time in going there.
