A:  N.A.H.I. (National Association of Home Inspectors) and A.S.H.I. (Americal Society of Home Inspectors) are highly recommended.  Both associations are non-profit, created for professionalism in the home inspection industry.

Q:  Should a company do repairs on the propery they inspect?

A:  A company should never perform repairs on the property they inspect.  This will provide an honost and un-biased opinion and avoids any conflict of interests.

Q:  Should an inspection company be insured?

A:  A responsible inspection company will be fully insured.

Q:  How long will the inspection take?

A:  A full inspection should cover all major components of a home and take between two and three hours per average house.

Q:  Is it necessary for the inspector to keep up with continuing education?

A:  Yes.  To be a member of N.A.H.I. or A.S.H.I. an inspector must continue to educate and update his/her skills.

Q:  Can the buyer be at the inspection?

A:  It would be in the buyer's best interest to be at the inspection.  You will learn a lot about your purchase and the inspector can go over his/her findings with you so you will feel more at ease.

Q:  How much will the inspection cost?

A:  Remember, cheaper is not necessarily better.   Value is not just saving money, it's getting the most comprehensive inspection for the money.
