The Artwork that you will see in my Gallery is made from cedar.
There are No stains or Dyes of any kind just the beauty of
cedar with 15 to 20 coats of clear finish to bring out its natural
color. The only exceptions will be the maps of World Atlas,
Japan, and the map of the USA. They are made of many
different types of Exotic woods, they too have No stains or Dyes
so the true color of the woods will come thru. With artwork like
this, your business or home will stand out with the beauty of wood.
The Artist
Scott Gielish and wife
Sandy work together with the construction. He is a self taught
artist. All artwork is created by free hand drawing and inspired
by 30 years of outdoor and wildlife experiences.
Artwork - Each creation is an original. one of a kind creation
which can not he exactly duplicated. Each design is limited to an
edition of 50 to 250 pieces- Each individual piece is signed and
numbered by the artist to increase investment value.
The World Atlas was created after 8 years of designing, building,
and selling his unique wildlife wood sculptures A gallery owner
asked him to create a world atlas completely out of wood &
similar to the US-map Scott already had built.
He began with a paper atlas and decided to build a piece with
a" lattice - style" background that would have the
effect of the longitude and latitude lines on a globe. Designing
the patterns for the countries was the next step. It takes about a
month to build one atlas, which includes at least 20 coats of
clear lacquer. The lacquer highlights the natural color in the 60
different exotic and domestic woods and preserves the beauty
forever. Great effort is made to include all countries which are
large enough to show. Island groups are represented by the entire
territorial waters, and all land masses are as close to actual
scale as is possible.
The success has been overwhelming with over 50 maps sold since
1993 to clients from the US, Canada, Japan, & Europe. The
totally unique artwork is a centerpiece for either home or
business, and will be a topic of conversation and admiration for
years to come.
