There's plenty of other stuff to do online. A good place to start would be Yahooligans, which features lots of kids-safe places to go and things to do. This would even make a good home page for students to begin their Internet sessions.
Doing a research project? Need to find somewhere
to start? Searchopolis has listings
in LOTS of different categories, and their reference section is impressive.
Much of its research subjects are geared to upper grades. Homework
Help is a good site organized by subject. You'll learn how to
write bibliographies from Internet sites, and there's also a list of links
to other great homework help sites.
Another useful site for both parents and students is Big
Chalk.com. They have a large database filled with useful information.
It's well-organized, easy to follow, and there's something for everyone,
including teachers!
But life isn't ALL work, right? If you're a "toonie" like myself, be sure to check out The Cartoon Network .
Be sure to check out my Animation Page page for lots of great Simpsons sites!
For something a little more out of the ordinary, there's also Aardman Animations.

Click on the guy waving and see what's new. You
can also check out the first full-length feature from Aardman Animations
called
"Chicken
Run", an animated adventure featuring the voice of Mel Gibson.
Do you like Math? Even if
you don't, you're bound to like the Fractals included here. Learn

This past year, schools throughout the district had an opportunity to choose a new reading program. These new Reading/Literacy programs are designed to meet the needs of all students, create an understanding of reading, and prepare schools for the CSAP and other standardized tests.
At Arkansas Elementary we chose to implement the Scott
Foresman reading series next year. You can find out more about
this publisher at their official website. There's a "curriculum corner"
that allows visitors to learn more about the Foresman series.
Houghton-Mifflin is another giant publisher of textbooks
and guides that many schools are adopting next year. Their website,
called Eduplace.com is filled with
information for teachers, parents, and students. Their database is
ENORMOUS!! The main menu has links to just about any topic.
Teaching primary grades ( K-2 ) offers a very different set of challenges. Students are beginning to acquire language and reading skills. Finding the right book for these emergent readers is crucial. The Wright Group specializes in language arts materials for primary grades. Their website offers some more information about this company.
