Richard Johnson
I earned my private pilot license on June 6, 2000 after passing my check-ride.
A year of my time and 46.5 hours in the air was all it took to earn my wings.
By having my flight time funded by the Golden Eagles, I was able to focus
on my studies and flight skills instead of paying the bill at the end of my flight.
I am currnetly working on my instument rating seperate from the Golden Eagles.
They got me off the runway and now I'll climb to the clouds.

It was the summer after graduation in 1996, I had been going to the Golden Eagles
meetings and studying the private pilot books that they provided for me. It was a lot
of work, but with the support of Golden Eagles members and a generous donation
from the Air Force Association, a year later on September 17, 1997 I passed
my flight test and became an FAA certified private pilot. Since then I have been able to
hold a flight cabin crew position with an international airline flying in 737 and A320 aircraft.
I am currently studying to become an Air Traffic Controller. I am now a member of
the Golden Eagles of Minnesota, Aircraft Owners and Pilot's Association (AOPA) and
the National Air Traffic Controllers Association (NATCA). I may never have been able
to acheive what I have today without the help of the Golden Eagles of Minnesota.
