Setting Up A Modem in BeOS

 

Now you should be able to configure "DialUpNetworking" (under "Preferences") to use the device you have just added.


1) Click the "Be" button 4) Click the "Connect to: " button
2) Click "Preferences" 5) Select "New"
3) Start the "DialUpNetworking" application

 
7) In "Phone number: " Enter the phone
   number of the service you dial to connect.
6) In "Connection name: " Type the name
   of the service you will connect to.
8) In "User name: " Type your user name
   for the service you will connect to.
9) In "Password:" Enter your password for the
   service that you connect to.

 
 
10) You may want to check the "Save Password" checkbox :-) 12) Now choose your service providers' server type.
11) You will need to enter your service providers' primary
    and secondary Domain Name Server IP addresses.
    (if you don't know what they are, contact your
    service provider)
Note:  normally this will be 'Standard PPP'.  If this doesn't work please consult your service provider to determine what login / authentication types they support.

 
13) Click the "Modem..." button 
14) In the window that opens, click the button
    next to "Your modem is: "
15) Select your modem from the popup list

16) Choose the COM port you have assigned to your
    modem.
17) Choose the connection speed appropriate for your
    modem. 

 
18) Click "Done" and then you can restart networking.  
Your modem should now be recognized and ready to use.  Have fun!!!
