Travel Experience

Domestic

Vacations not listed to the right were spent in the USA. No tours. Most of them I do not consider Adventure, but I have seen a lot of the USA.

Foreign

England Wales Ireland Scotland

The summer of 1997 my mother, my wife and I took a Trafalgar tour of the British Isles. Beautiful country. We traveled by buss for three weeks. Everything was planned ahead by the Tour leader. We could choose from a short list of extras, such as having diner at an Irish pub for 30 pounds. The tourists were not allowed outside of the pattern. A very good way to travel when I had my then 91-year-old mother along. But I prefer more freedom.

England Holland Germany Austria Switzerland Italy France

The summer of 1987, 6 of us went thru Europe. We purchased a Euro rail pass and went at random for three weeks. Very much fun. Learned:

  • Don't take so much luggage. (We took one carry on each then mailed half the contents home the first week).
  • Don't force one person to get all of the lodging. (I spent a significant amount of time getting the nights lodging for us).
  • Would like to take a slower trip. (My amount of vacation at the time was the limiting factor).
  • Bahamas

For our 25th anniversary my wife and I went to the Bahamas. 1988. No Problem.

    Hawaii

For our 30th anniversary my wife and I went to Hawaii. 1993. Hang loose.

    Mexico east coast

In 1990 I took an adventure trip into Mexico with my nephew to see the ruins. Very enjoyable.

    Canada

In 1985 I was sent to Toronto Canada for 6 weeks on business. Memorable.

    Baja California (Mexico)

In 1985, I took my twin sons and a family friend to a small village (I can't remember it's name) on the east coast of Baja California. They turned on the village electric plant at dark and off at midnight. We did not camp. Used unrated motels. This was a fun adventure.

    Baja Mexico

In 1974, as Scoutmaster, I took 11 Boy Scouts in an old van, into Baja California. We camped along the beaches and surfed, traveling all the way into the territory of Baja. Fun.
