If materials are not provided by the training site, the attendees will need to gather the following materials for this program. The materials listed below can be gathered from a variety of stores: embroidery, or yarn shops; quilting, or sewing shops; craft stores, office supply stores; hardware stores, or paint suppliers. Attendees are responsible for keeping track of their own supplies once they are given to them.

Yarn Darning Sizes #14 to 18
- 1 pair of scissors
- 1 pencil (#2.5 hardness)
- 1 skein of yarn: This item will be shared between attendees
- Yarn must be 4 ply, worsted; a "standard" knitting type yarn
- Yarn must be of a solid color. Not a variegated or ombre type.
- #16 Tapestry needles (these have a larger eye) or
- #14 to 18 Yarn Darning needles (these have a smaller eye)
- Yarn Darning needles may come several sizes in one package.
- Persons choosing canvass that has more than 8 counts per inch should consider getting yarn needles.
- One 1 gallon plastic or brerad bag to keep your matierials in one place
- Children's and Youth's Supply List
(Adjustments made to the above list)
- Plastic children's needle (with the smaller head; the larger size will tear the canvass)
- 7 count canvass which measures 18 6/7 x 18 6/7 inches
Other Optional Equipment for both Youth and Adults
- One 6 to 8 inch embroidery hoop. Not a hanging frame. These differ in that frames will have a slight lip on one exterior side. Hoops come in wooden (very functional and usable) or heavy plastic (long term durable).
- 1 roll of 1 to 1 1/2 inch wide Painters Tape. This will "look" like masking tape but the adhesive is not as strong. This permits easy removal for the washing and framing of canvass needlework.
- Thimbles for thumb and index fingers. The instuctor suggests rubber thumb grips that you can purchase in office supply stores which come in tan and in four different sizes. Students who may be allergic to rubber may find cloth thumbles at some sewing stores.
