BONSAI  BOOK  OF  DAYS

What Happened On This Date in "Recent" Bonsai History?

The following just touches upon notable events in this field worldwide during the past hundred years or so.

Information included but not limited to: birth and/or death dates and places of various teachers and masters and other "shakers and movers," founding dates of clubs and organizations, opening dates of first conventions and permanent collections, dates of issue for sets of bonsai/penjing postage stamps, dates of first publication for what would become influential magazines and books.

In short and with all modesty, a repository for the highlights of our interest's history.

This is being continually updated and each date can have more than one noteworthy listing.
If you have suggestions, changes or additions, please email  rjb@phoenixbonsai.com

Of course, not all significant events can -- or should -- be traced to one particular day.
Our trees have their own daily, monthly and seasonal cycles and rhythms.
Equally so are the ebbs and flows of the ideas and events
of our propagation, design, display, organization, dissemination, and
other celebration of the trees' lives
and those of the humans connected with them.
