ONLINE  RETAILERS

The necessary components of our dwarf tree compositions are assembled from a variety of sources.  Usable plant material might be obtained from any nursery or garden center -- if one invests enough bending down, looking and comparing.  Some local nurseries do have more "treasures" than others.  Often these can be located in the "back 40."  For a much larger range of material, though, we definitely have to go outside this area.
A supply of containers is similarly limited here (except for the nurseries below).
Generally speaking, wire in the most commonly used gauges can be gotten at any of our club meetings.  The most basic tools can be gotten there also, usually with a week's notice.
About once a year we will bring in a pallet or two of 80 lb. bags of chicken grit.  (Each bag is priced for less than $8.)  The grit is the main ingrediant (50-75%) of our recommended coarse soil mix.    Contact the club to find out when the next order will be placed.

Currently, the two most reputable locations in the Valley at which to purchase general nursery plants, some starter material, soil mix amendments, some wire and tools, and bonsai containers are:

"We have recently received a shipment from New England Bonsai Gardens, containing finished, pre-finished, and starter material.  We will continue to order from them regularly.  We are expecting a delivery of starter material from Mini Plant Kingdom any day, containing both 2" and 4" plants.  We have also received a new shipment of pottery from Wee Tree Farm, and are waiting on another to come any day.

"Again, just as a reminder to all your members, we are now offering a 10% discount on all bonsai and bonsai related materials to card-carrying members."

Thank You,
Denise, Berridge Nurseries
