Comet Hale Bopp Nucleus

This image shows details near the comet nucleus. Note the "hoods" with spiral structure due to comet rotation. Imaged with an 8-inch f/11.5 home made Classical Cassegrain telescope using eyepiece projection with a 20-mm focal length eyepiece (equivalent to about f/45). Comet on Provia 400 film pushed to ISO 1600, 15 second exposure, tracking on the comet. 4000 dpi scan.
