Objective
I am seeking a position working with a quick response team developing distributed
and web based application systems.
Cover Letter/Preamble
I have worked for my present employer for 14 years, 12 of which, as a software
engineer working in large storage systems software development. I received
my start as a programmer through a company sponsored programmer training
program and have enjoyed programming ever since.
The experience I have gained as a software engineer has been varied
and exciting. It has been a challenge to keep up to speed with the current
programming environments while working with older technologies. For the
past 5 years, I have worked in a software development environment using
C and C++ as the base programming languages. My responsibilities
have included: code design, documentation, implementation, review and testing,
as well as software version control, project scheduling and code size estimating.
In addition to my expirence with C and C++, I have worked with HTML
and PERL in order to learn CGI programming. I am currently in the process
of teaching myself JAVA and IBM's VisualAge both in a standalone environment
and as a web interface. I have worked with several different assemblers
and have 4 years of expierence with COBOL. For a majority of my time as
a programmer, I have worked in a UNIX/AIX environment. My current assignment
is working with a team that is writting a storage application on top of
an AIX kernal. I have also written applications for Windows 95/98/NT and
OS/2.
Although my strength lies in storage control applications, I have been
able to apply the knowledge gained to each environment I have worked in.
I have had the opportunity to work as a member of a development team, as
well as lead a small team in making specialized modifications to the storage
control software for specialized use in the transportation industry's application
environment. The primary purpose of these modifications was to improve
performance in an environment that is very demanding and dynamic.
